Hallo, 

Ik wandel mee met de negende editie van De Roze Mars, een initiatief van Pink Ribbon, de nationale organisatie in de strijd tegen borstkanker. 

Net als zoveel andere mensen heeft borstkanker ook onze familie persoonlijk geraakt. Na een 10 jaar durende strijd met borst- en leverkanker overleed mijn oma toen ik nog op de middelbare school zat. Hoewel ze er al 18 jaar niet meer is, mis ik haar nog steeds heel erg. We hadden een hechte band omdat ze bij ons in de straat woonde en elke dag voor ons zorgde na school en tijdens vakanties. Ik heb ook een lieve schoonmama die recent werd geconfronteerd met borstkanker, maar gelukkig genezen.

Gedurende de maand mei zal ik ernaar streven om dagelijks meer te wandelen en meer te bewegen. Omdat de strijd tegen borstkanker nog lang niet gestreden is, draag ik via deze weg mijn steentje bij.

Hi, 

I am taking part in the ninth edition of The Pink Walk, an initiative by Pink Ribbon, the national organisation that champions the fight against breast cancer. 

As for so many other people, breast cancer has also touched our family personally. After a 10-year battle with breast and liver cancer, my grandmother died while I was still in secondary school. Even though she has been gone for 18 years, I still miss her a lot. We were very close since she lived in our street and took care of us every day after school and during holidays. I also have a very sweet mother-in-law, who was recently confronted with breast cancer, but thankfully healed. 

Throughout May each of us will strive to walk or move more throughout the day and we will compete against other teams. Since the fight against breast cancer is far from over, this is our way of making a contribution.
